P.S. Santa

So remember how I recommended dropping a nail polish or two in my stocking this year? Well, I just so happened to see the prettiest neutral color on Candise's toes today. I reeeally liked it when I saw it painted on her nails, BUT when I found out the name of it is 'Tickle My France-y', I fell in love with it. I love plays on words, so I basically think this nail polish and I are meant for each other...
just throwin it out there,

Burrr

While E spent his Thanksgiving vacation basking in the warm Phoenix weather, our son (Dex) and I were freezing our butts off in Farmington. I honestly NEVER remember it getting this freezing cold here. It was brutal, and I felt like my face was going to fall off the second I stepped foot outside. Dexter has been such a diva as the weather has started getting chillier in Albuquerque, so I assumed he wasn't going to be a big fan of the snowy weather in Farmington. Boy was I wrong! When we arrived in town, snow flakes were lightly falling from the sky. I thought the second Dexter stepped out of the car and placed one paw on the snow covered ground that he was going to bolt to the door. At first, he was totally confused and it seemed like he thought someone was throwing stuff at him. He kept jumping and looking around squinting his eyes trying to find the culprit. After a few seconds though he seemed totally comfortable and started running around in it, occasionally stopping to chomp on the ice on the ground. Dexter is a total psycho about ice (he gets this from me) and I think he may have thought he was in heaven as he was surrounded by it everywhere! He didn't know what to do with himself. He ran around full of excitement. It was soooo cute. And of course I had my camera in hand, and managed to snap a few shots of the crazy guy before I ran back inside to my warm house.

 b(l)uuuurrry but cute...you think I take a ton of photos of this lil guy, just wait til I have a (human) son! haha

freezing cold,

Santa Claus House 101 St. Nicholas Drive North Pole

Dear Santa,
Seeing as I've been on my best behavior this year, I thought you might like to see some of the things that I am wishing for. I created a list for you (with clickable links) for your convenience. I didn't want you or the elves to have to stress about what to get me this year, so I'm hoping that the list will be extremely helpful for you.

Today in the life of Dexter....

Long story short - Dexter jumped out of the window of a moving car today. He stood dazed in the middle of a busy intersection as his mom dashed to the rescue and scooped him up and put him back into the car. Auntie Julia acted quickly and wrapped his bleeding foot up with gauze. When he got home his dad performed an emergency surgery and cut off his dangling toe nail. All the while Dex was distracted with a tasty bone, and wasn't even phased by it. He is fine, just really tired and has been asleep and resting since the accident. His mom is really shaken up about the whole thing, but we are just glad that everyone is okay and  that darling Dexter walked away with only a minor injury.

Fortress

So remember on my last Monday Marvels post when I blogged about pretty fortresses? Well those forts that I posted have NOTHIN on the one that my friend Mackenzie and I built this weekend. We like to think of ourselves as professional fort makers after we saw the amazingness that we created this weekend.

Our lovely fortress included:

blankets/sheets with colorful pretty patterns
prayer flags
rasta bowls
lanterns
vintage tea pot
guitar
star light
vase
christmas lights
table
a big letter M
polaroid and instax cameras
pretty pillows
lace doily
{& of course Pandora playing in the background}

We were pretty amazed after we were done building it. When we finished, we sat in silence for a few minutes just taking it all in and looking at all the little details that made up our lovely fort. Some of you poked fun at the fact that we are 22 and building forts...but...after seeing these pics, I know it makes you want to build one too.

Veteran's Day

Words simply cannot express my appreciation for those who have made incredible sacrifices to serve our country.

 {One of the things I admire most about my dad is his strong sense of pride in our country and the fact that he spent 20 + years devoting his life to protecting its freedoms.}

Thank you for your dedication and devotion.

Monday Marvels....on a Tuesday

So like I mentioned a couple posts back, school has been hectic. I finally had to start my 15 page paper yesterday. I am currently on 8 pages. Just the rough draft is due tomorrow, so I am content with turning in 8 pages and I'm done stressing about it...now...back to my Monday Marvels...on a Tuesday.

I am currently marvelling over....

1. 'Is this Love' cover by Corrine Bailey Rae. soooo soulful. soooo gooood. {i may or may not have played it about twenty times tonight}.

2. pretty fortresses

{pretty sure all fortress pics were found on we heart it...?}
{oh! btw, forts like the one above are for sale at Hobby Lobby *cough cough... Yup, I just added it to my X-mas list}

so magical and lovely...

3. Pies!!!...I've been trying to be more domesticated lately, so I've taken up baking a few pies here and there. I've enjoyed baking them, but man I reeeallly enjoy the ones from Flying Star! I am salivating as we speak, just thinking about the caramel pecan pie we had last weekend. ohemgee! sooooo gooood! aaah! To think I never was a pie eater when I was little? man was I missing out all of those years! so yummmy! p.s. me & e made a very delicious pecan pie together this weekend. It came out pretty good if I do say so myself...We were proud of ourselves. :)

Dexter's new favorite hobby is to sit and patiently wait for something tasty to fall on the ground while I'm cooking.

 that's all for now...I have to get back to homework. *pouting*
